The Financial Times 23rd – 24th June

Saturday, June 23rd, 2012

This weeks Diary for the FT was written by Pilita Clark, her subject was the Rio +20 conference in Brazil this week.

It took a while for this one to be pulled together as there was alot of drawing to do and only 24 hours to complete it in. I’m sure it will have a spot in my portfolio for a while!

Introducing my second job for the Italian news magazine Panorama. This weeks work was a nice straight forward illustration of the top Italian businessman ‘Franzo Grande Stevens’.

Its not very often I get a deadline longer than 3 days. so when this job came along I snapped it up, 3 weeks to design a front cover using a collage style to show alcohol in the UK. Its like a brief I would come up with myself! Its certainly not an image I would have been able to create in 3 days as you can see there are a lot of figures in the image. Just for good measure I popped a few close ups in the post as well. Enjoy!

This particular project I am very proud of. Its my first International job which is a really big mile stone and something I would never have seen happening so soon. The really really positive factor is that they found my work through the vast world of the internet, rather than me promoting myself to them, which up until now is where 100% of my work has originated from.
Its also an excellent brief, nice and simplistic and focused on one part which is the sort of job I like. I am already doing more work for Panorama so watch this space….

Slightly strange subject matter as always for the FT! … my models included Harriet Gray, two chinese boys and BIN LADEN – I think this one wins for overall randomness.

This job was my first 2 parter. It was certainly a tight squeeze as I had the same time that I normally have to do one.The article in particular was a good’en though and defiantly warranted the 2 illustrations.
