It is now one week on from Michele's first lecture which introduced us to the idea of research and Methodologies. I often find that I don't always take in 100% of the information when listening to lectures, especially if they are over 1 hour long. So I decided it would be a good idea to go back and have another little listen without the excitement of meeting lots of new people and of course without the early morning, heavy, drinking session going on outside the window!
One of the big things that struct me, and that I had failed to make a note of or remember from the lecture last time, was when Michele was talking about "pointing the way forward", or more specifically "...De-scare-ifying Research Methodologies". I found this section really useful for putting things into perspective and for basically understanding what I had to do. Michele started by saying "We are not saying we know it all, we cant say we have read every book, there just isn't enough time, but what we can say is, this is what I think I want to do, this is the way I want to do it, I'm pointing the way to the future"
Along with the WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, HOW, WHY and WHO, this is something I will always try to bare in mind when coming up against walls of text.
